The Tale

As seniors start to leave I begin to acknowledge
Everything in life doesn’t come as promised
There’s a fee to each degree that we accomplish
Moving forward in life is the only thing promised

It’s promised that time doesn’t stop when the clock does
When the batteries run out it’s time to find a plug
To charge up and produce more energy
To keep on progressing understanding our tendencies

The remedies that we find are typically quick fixes
The band aid solution won’t help when it’s Christmas
And your wishlist isn’t achieved, everything that’s given
Isn’t always dressed up in the way that you expect it

So you take what you get and we all get upset
Unless you’ve been exposed to worse threats
But if not you shouldn’t allow it to permeate
Your mind produces feelings for the experiences we create

So choose wisely, and try to surprise me
Let me pick your brain, I’ll show what’s inside of me
Don’t we all want to see the world and what it’s made of
Every chain reaction the opportunities given up

When we decide to move forward with a fork in the road
We make our own decisions although we blame who showed
Us a time, a place, a perspective in the race
That you couldn’t see since we go our own pace

We all misplaced feelings brought up to the ceilings
Until we break through you won’t understand how appealing
A life worth living is and what that entails
Choose happiness and good will prevail

Skimming on the surface, pay attention to the detail
The simple things in life are the most important in your tale.
