Paid Dues

We all build a front sort of like a wall
Soon enough it’ll crumble and fall
Doesn’t matter how short, we stand tall
Height in hindsight never mattered at all

You want what you don’t have look at what you do
If you can conceive go achieve, unless you don’t want to
But if you do stop lying to yourself and your friends
That you want to keep going following all the trends

How is it made? It’s gotta start somewhere
We’ll all get paid you gotta make it over there
To the other side, the grass is greener go and check it out
They cut it the other morning so your dues are due now

Morning dew, honeydew, sweeter than the seeds
That are planted all around continuing to recede
From our natural instincts we all know what works
For ourselves not for others, but we try to make it work

When we’re stuck in one place trying to make it out
Trying to change the picture, what are you thinking about
If you can’t accept the world just the way it is
You’ll never accept yourself for the mistakes that you commit

Some may feel like a crime but you’ll see in due time
It doesn’t last forever the clouds move and the sun shines.
